Electricity safety is a significant issue concerning national security and people's livelihood. With the rapid development of UAV applications, the line operation and maintenance mode of "machine inspection as the main, human inspection as a supplement" is taking full shape.
Compared with the traditional manual inspection operation, UAV inspection can support long-distance processes and effectively protect inspectors' safety and open intelligent, professional, and accurate assessment, effectively improving operational efficiency and data quality.
Recently, JOUAV officially released the CW-15 Version 2, announcing that the vertical takeoff and landing fixed-wing UAV, as the standard form of industrial UAV, has formally entered the industrial UAV 2.0 era with its intelligence, platform, and tooling, which also provides more robust support for UAV in power grid inspection applications.


Routine inspection of power transmission lines: stable and efficient daily maintenance of channels

The flight platform adopts Zongtong Roc CW-15 V2, which flies 200 meters above the channel to obtain positive aerial images, and inspects hidden dangers such as illegal construction, external breakage, and mountain fires below and within 200 meters on both sides of the channel.
The terrain conditions of overhead transmission lines in mountainous areas are complex. CW-15 V2 is equipped with front and lower millimeter-wave obstacle avoidance radar, which senses obstacles in real-time at each stage of takeoff, cruise, and landing and realizes dynamic flight path planning through an intelligent obstacle avoidance algorithm.
Also equipped with downward-looking binocular intelligent obstacle avoidance, landing stage terrain intellectual perception, automatic landing point innovative screening, when found electric poles, personnel and other dangerous landing places, real-time release, to ensure the safe landing of the aircraft.
Pure electric, long-endurance, and the drone transmission line routine inspection provide tremendous advantages so that flyers in the face of complex power channel inspection operations are more confident.
Based on a high-precision digital three-dimensional map of ground-like flight and active safety technology during flight, CW-15 V2 can adapt to more terrain conditions, automatically generate variable height routes according to overhead transmission line undulations and maintain consistent ground resolution, thus obtaining better data results.
CW-15 V2 is equipped with a 61-megapixel CA-103 full-frame aerial camera and adopts DS100 rotating head solution to improve the resolution quality and map-forming resolution to ensure the highest accuracy and best results. It better provides adequate data support for transmission line inspection.

Real-time monitoring and inspection: transmission channel hill fire and external breakage real-time inspection
CW-15 II is equipped with self-researched visible and infrared integrated dual-sensor pods and high-definition map transmission equipment, realizing 30x optical zoom capability and 50km high-definition map transmission link, which can conduct real-time search and identification, locking and tracking, positioning, and evidence collection for targets such as hill fires and external breaches in transmission channels.
The ground end realizes real-time control of the photoelectric pod and realizes rapid response and capture of field targets through real-time inspection video.
Dual-light pod with belly retractable structure design, heading can be carried out 360 degrees of rotation, can be observed in any direction target, no fuselage obscuring part of the angle of the problem, observation field of view without dead ends while having the ability to detect infrared heat sources at night. The visible and infrared images of the corridor can be taken and transmitted back to the ground command center and command platforms at all levels in real-time through the dedicated air-ground link network or 4G/5G public network.
The ground station software can show the location information of channel anomalies (hill fires, landslides, floating objects, external damage, etc.) in real-time. It can be applied in mountain fire patrol, emergency patrol, particular times to ensure power supply, etc.

Laser point cloud and orthophoto are acquired synchronously, and the original point cloud, true color point cloud, high-precision DEM, DSM, DOM, and DLG results are quickly generated. The laser point cloud data is highly aligned with the orthophoto. Automatic analysis of hidden dangers and abnormalities that cause line safety problems, significantly improving the efficiency of line inspection, improving inspection accuracy, and eliminating blind inspection areas.
