The sewage outlet into the river is connected to the river at one end and the pollution source at the other end, which is the last "gate" for pollutants to enter the river. The quality of "gateway" management is directly related to the quality of the water environment of the Yangtze River and the safety of the ecological environment.
It is very important to find out every sewage outlet to provide guarantee for improving the ecological environment of the Yangtze River. In a previous project, three CW-15 UAVs fought for 12 days and successfully completed the UAV aerial survey project of the first and second branches of the Yangtze River in Anhui Province.
Guo Jiao from JOUAV, who participated in the mission, told us that the investigation and remediation of sewage outlets in the river is to obtain data through drone aerial remote sensing technology, and use a professional remote sensing interpretation system to process and analyze the data. The technical basis for measuring, tracing, and remediation should be well established, and the most important basic "base" of the sewage discharge outlet into the river should be figured out clearly to provide a guarantee for improving the quality of the river's ecological environment.
1 Check, comprehensively and thoroughly find out the bottom number of sewage outfalls into the river, establish a standardized file of sewage outfalls into the river.
2 Measure, that is, carry out monitoring to understand the pollution discharge status and pollutant discharge amount of the sewage outlet of the river.
3 Traceability refers to tracing and re-examining the source of the sewage outlets with outstanding problems found in monitoring to find out the source of sewage and clarify the responsibility for sewage discharge.
4 Governance is based on investigation, monitoring, and tracing, to carry out the cleanup and remediation of sewage outlets step by step.
For this task, we need to complete the aerial survey of the sewage discharge of two branches of the Yangtze River in Anhui Province, with a cumulative operating area of about 600 square kilometers.
In the operation area, there are many mountains, lakes and rivers. During aerial survey operations, UAVs often need to fly across mountains.
Due to time constraints and heavy tasks, the entire team and the three UAVs were overloaded. "As long as the weather conditions permit, the three CW-15 UAVs will fly together. Sometimes, in order to save time, the team leaves early and returns late, and the washing is also carried out in the car."
"There is a section of the work area, the CW-15 needs to turn halfway up the mountain and the distance is 40 meters away from the mountain." Guo Jiao recalled the situation at that time and still vividly remember it.
In the end, within a limited 12 sunny days, the team successfully completed the inspection area tasks.
In this mission, all the data obtained by the CW-15 UAVs was better than the project requirements, and the data obtained by each flight was valid, helping the Anhui Provincial Environmental Protection Department to grasp the pollution discharge of two branches of the Yangtze River in the province.
Guo Jiao told us that after the completion of the flights, the orthophoto data obtained will used to interpret the data by man-machine interactively, combined with the characteristics of the texture, shape, color, and spatial distribution of the sewage outlet in the river. Extract the suspected location of the sewage outlet, and fill in basic information such as the longitude, latitude, administrative division and code of the sewage outlet to form a preliminary checklist of the sewage outlet.
